How to set up NIO’s Parking Space to Parking Space? How to create a Parking Space Collection?

June 16, 2025

How to configure NIO’s Parking Space to Parking Space, set up Parking Space Collections, and enable automatic vehicle exit from parking spots are among the most frequent questions from NIO Banyan model owners. This is because, on May 30, 2025, NIO officially launched its NIO World Model (NWM), introducing a new feature called Parking Space Collection . This model supports Point-to-Point Navigation Assist across all scenarios, enabling seamless, driver-free navigation from one parking space to another . By late June, the update will also roll out to Cedar models (including ET9, new ES6, new EC6, new ET5, and new ET5T) , meaning more owners will need guidance. Below is a detailed tutorial on setting up NIO Parking Space Collections:

NIO Pilot System

Step-by-Step Guide to Parking Space Collection:

1. Initiate navigation to the destination’s external public road or parking lot entrance.

Tips: You can drive manually or use assisted driving for this segment—neither affects setup.

2. Drive to your target parking space.

Tips:

– Navigation exits automatically upon reaching the destination. Do not shift to P gear from this point until parking is complete; D or R gear is acceptable .

– For first-time setup, reduce speed to improve environmental recognition accuracy .

– Use auto parking or manual parking to reach the space, but avoid shifting to P gear .

3. After parking, the “Collect Parking Space” option appears in the top-left corner of the screen. Tap it to name the collected space .

4. Navigate to any location, drive out of the premises (e.g., residential area), and validate the exit route.

Tips:

– Point-to-Point Navigation Assist only activates during active navigation .

– Do not use voice commands (NOMI) to exit parking lots, as misuse may trigger “Parking Lot Roaming” and cause disorientation .

NIO Automatic Parking

Key Features of NWM:

– Seamless Parking-to-Parking Navigation: Once a space is collected, NWM enables uninterrupted navigation from departure to arrival at the saved parking spot .

– Dynamic Space Handling: If the collected space is occupied, the system automatically finds nearby vacant spots for temporary parking .

– AI-Powered Flexibility: Unlike rule-based mapping, NWM uses real-time AI perception to navigate unfamiliar parking lots without pre-mapped routes .

– Industry-Leading Autonomy: Supports cross-zone/floor navigation in parking garages via natural language commands (e.g., “Find exit” or “Go to Building A entrance”) without relying on stored maps .

The NWM launch marks a significant step toward full-scenario autonomous driving, offering users a more relaxed experience. Future updates promise even more advanced capabilities .
